Is your dog safely settled in for New Year's Eve? Fireworks can often be very stressful for dogs, who have much more sensitive hearing than us. Ordinarily, calm dogs can panic and take off running, sometimes rushing outdoors or even jumping over fences. Here are a couple of quick checklists to make sure you're ready to help your pup stay safe during what can be a very stressful time for them.

Home prep checklist:
☑ My dog is safely contained indoors
☑ My curtains are closed and all doors and windows are closed and secured
☑ My dog has a place to hide and feel safe (crate, closet, etc)
☑ I'm playing calming music or have my TV on to help distract from the noise outside
☑ My dog will be on a leash during outdoor potty breaks

In case of escape:
☑ My dog is wearing ID and license tags
☑ All my dog's tags and microchip are up to date
☑ I have a clear photo of my dog to post on social media and flyers
