[ARCHIVED] Funding Available through FY19 DERA State Clean Diesel Grant Program

Clean Diesel Program

PHOENIX (March 5, 2019) – Maricopa County Air Quality Department (MCAQD) is administering the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) State Clean Diesel Program grant, which is designed to improve air quality by eliminating diesel emissions.

Since program inception in 2016, nearly 1.3 million dollars have been awarded with a pollutant emission reduction of approximately 37 tons.

Organizations within Maricopa County that have fleets can apply to receive a subaward for retrofit, repower or replacement of qualified diesel fleet vehicles or equipment. The funding is to retrofit or repower medium to heavy duty fleet vehicles with engine model years 1995 to 2009. Organizations also have the option to purchase new low-emission fleet vehicles or school buses to replace old, high polluting fleet vehicles with a partial reimbursement for a 2019 or newer model.

All funded projects must conclude by September 30, 2020. All interested parties should contact Larz Garcia, Maricopa County Air Quality Department Grant Programs Administrator, at 602-506-0147 or Larz.Garcia@maricopa.gov.

A required Notice of Intent to Participate (NOIP) is due on or before April 5, 2019 with applications due on or before May 6, 2019. Funding is limited for the current award period and subawards will be granted on a first come first serve basis, based on the applicant’s ability to complete the project by September 30, 2020. Awards will be announced October 2019. To apply, please visit maricopa.gov/4509/Clean-Diesel-Program.
