Vulture Mountains Recreation Area

The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), in cooperation with Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is constructing Phase I of the multiphase Vulture Mountains Recreational Area project. Over the next year and a half, MCDOT will construct park roadways, realign Vulture Mine Road and help to bring limited utilities to the area.

Much of the work is being done adjacent to the roadway and will have minimal impact on drivers traveling through the area. However, during construction, heavy equipment will need to cross Vulture Mine Road. Please obey traffic control signs, watch for construction crews and slow down while traveling through the work zones.

Please note: Several of the current staging areas, recreation areas and trails will be closed to hikers, equestrians, vehicles, and campers during construction.
